As the year comes to end ,23 rd December witnessed the demise of legendary director K.Balachander popularly known as K.B . Known for simple yet solid story , strong characterization, prominent female leads , K.B’s cinema career started off like storm in 1960’s after a major success in theater world. With fine direction , powerful dialog his movies portrayed the problems faced in the society especially of the middle class.From love stories to social causes he has explored several genres .Nurturing several actors from generation to generation he still continues to inspire everyone . As there no end to an creation , K.B sirs work will continue to make every audience to feel his presence.
Here goes my list of few favorites(though every movie is special) of his work
Ethir Neechal: With Nagesh’s mind blowing acting , this is one with beautiful story of struggles faced by an orphan.
Bama Vijayam- Typical Portrayal of middle class family. one of the widely appreciated comedy-Drama.
Aval oru thodarkathai- one of widely appreciated movie of K.Balachander for its story , characters and music.
Moondru mudich : Bringing the trio Kamal – Rajini – Sridevi the movie brought out best acting from them and drama in second half comes out brilliantly.
Ninaithale innikum: This is one of the most celebrated movies of 80’s feauturing Rajini and kamal in the lead. Music by Illayaraja is an added Point.
Thillu Mullu: Having Rajini in lead comedy drama , the movie can be watched N number for its brilliant acting and humored dialog.
Thanner Thanner : A heart touching political satire , the opening scene where a boy loses his saved water simply nails the pain and thirst for water.
PudhuPudhu Arthangal: A story about a head strong wife turning possessive , The drama ends with an unexpected climax.Music was another credit to the movie
Kalki: With four different woman characters this movie stood out to be a coming of age drama.
Vaname ellai : A simple story targeting the youth can be told to every generation.
